Nathan asked about adapting the veggie stew crockpot recipe for camping.
That reminded me of the old girl scout camping dinner cooked in foil in the
campfire. The original was chicken marinated in Italian salad dressing plus
potato, carrot, onion. We put individual portions in a double wrapping of
tin foil and put it right at the edge of the campfire. I think you could
use this idea, minus the chicken, plus more and varied vegetables, non-fat
marinade of choice, and a tightly covered, non-aluminum pot. We've done it
at home in the oven in pyrex. I think several small containers will cook
faster than one large one, if time is a consideration.
