microwavable containers

This is likely getting off topic, but with all the discussion surrounding
"microwavable" containers for popcorn, my old neurosis came to mind, that
being: no plastic is "safe" to microwave. I heard this from a friend who
apparently did some experiments on what percentage of toxins leaked from
the plastic into the food, and have no proof to back my fear up other than
his words, but I have tried to use non-plastic and definitely non-styrofoam
containers since. I would guess that the market's definition of "microwave
safe" has more to do with the destructibility of the container than with
our health. It's probably a caveat eater issue.
