I do both oatmeal and 7 grain cereal in the crockpot.
2 cups of skim milk
1/4 c brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
sprinkle of nutmeg
1 cup of rolled oats (or 7grain blend)
1 cup of chopped apple
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts/pecans
Spray the inside of cooker with coating of Pam. Put ingredients into
crockpot and mix with whisk. Cover. Just before going to bed, turn on the
crockpot at "low"speed. The cereal will be ready in the morning. This
amount will serve 4.
I vary the ingredients quite often using craisins in place of raisins,
chopped dry apricots and other dried fruit. The outcome of this process is
a very creamy cereal, very satisfying. Often I eat it without milk added
at serving and simply top it with apple sauce.
