To the person confused about steel cuts oats/oatmeal nutrition (600 cal vs
A case of apples vs. oranges here... While most *cooked* oatmeal type
things will contain about 150 cals per cup, the Trader Joe can saying 1 cup
=600 cal was obviously for a *dry uncooked measure* (the stuff I use
actually says 680 per cup, but hey the exact number of calories in a whole
grain is the LEAST of my worries). I don't think even those sugar and salt
freaks at Quaker could find a way to stuff 450 extra cals of fat and sugar
into a measly cup of oatmeal. Hope this clears that issue up.
