Drink more water! cut back on caffeine and soda of any kind. One
still has to watch fat and calories on a veggie diet, especially on
ovo lacto. Dairy products are very high in calories. veggie slices
are 40 cal per slice and have 2g of fat total per slice. no sat fat
I have been veggie for 10 years, but have a terrible junk food habit
so have not lost weight, but then neither have I really tried to
lose weight. That is not why I became veggie.

Subject: Not losing weight as a vegetarian
I can relate to the recent posting about not losing weight on a
diet. I made the switch about 7 months ago to an ovo-lacto
pretty much as a result of reading materials by Dr. Dean Ornish.
do feel better, the weight is coming off waaaaaay too slow for my
was hoping to lose 5 lb. per week when I started this way of eating.
I must have been delusional at the time because I have managed to
14 lb. to date. It can be very depressing especially when one has a
weight to lose. I appreciate the information in the posted response
making a change to more protein in the vegetarian diet as opposed to
up on carbs. I do eat eggs however and have been using strictly the
soy cheese called Veggie Slices. It can be very disheartening when
you are doing everything the right way and yet the extra lb.
'stick by me.' Any additional suggestions to expedite the weight
