RE: red wine substitute

Hello, all. This is my first posting. I'm glad I'm able to contribute,
since I've learned so much from all of you. Angela Koskie asked, "Does
anyone have a good substitute for red wine in recipes that doesn't involve
alcohol?" Cooking Light magazine (Jan/Feb 99) says you can exchange
balsamic vinegar or red wine vinegar for red wine. I don't have the exact
exchanges, but I know it's not 1:1. I think it's a tbsp vinegar to 1/2 cup
wine.
