Raisins

I have been reading the posts about iron absorption and am wondering about
the iron in raisins.  A few years ago, I was very anemic and a vegan, so I
was told to eat a full handful of raisins each day.  I still do this.  Are
these just empty calories?  And, what do I do with the 4 pounds of raisins
I just bought!?  Uhoh. . . .
