Raw Asparagus?

Hi Friends,
	Serching the fridge for something to eat and all I could find was
fresh asparagus.  Normally I would not think of eating this raw, but noting
how tender it was I took a chance.  It was DELICIOUS!
	Now I am worried.  What I mean is...why do we cook the stuff in the
first place if it tastes so good raw???
	Is it poison if eaten raw?

This inquiring mind wants to know before she takes another bite.
