Finally!! Here is the Meat Substitute data I've been promising you.
Apologies for taking so long. If you have any questions about
preparation or availability or anything, please feel free to email me.
I'm sending you an additional email that contains the names/addresses of
the companies, plus two new research papers re: soy products. Looks
like soy is turning out to be the ideal food.

MEAT SUBSTITUTES BY BRAND

Below are non-meat / meat substitute products which I have come to
prefer over the years. Items that I think are exceptional in flavor,
texture, etc. will have an "(A)" next to it. Items are listed first by
Brand - the ?Items? are listed in the order of my taste/flavor
preference, so not all similar items will be listed together. These
were all available at Loma Linda Market, in the vegetraian city of Loma
Linda. But regular old markets carry MorningStar Farms brand, and they
are just excellent. Boca Burgers and Yves are harder to find. Hughes
Markets in CA carry Yves and Bocas.

I prefer non-meat products that are ?TVP? (textured vegetable protein)
and frozen products, rather than canned or dried. Especially now that
so many manufacturers are make such a variety of choices. For many
years we had only TVP ?burgers? from which to choose, so we needed to
turn to canned, etc. for other items. That is not the case today (Thank
heaven because most of those are terrible!)

Foods are listed in the order of brand, first - then, within the brand -
they are in the order of my personal preference. Those Items that have
an "A" after the item name, are, to me, exceptional in flavor, texture,
etc. Those will be my favorites.

Due to the different word processing and file formats on the web -
rather than use tabs and columns for this information - I?ve separated
the data by dashs ? - ? . All Data is in the following order:

Brand
Item - Serving Size - Calories/Fat Cal - Protein - Carbo - Fat
Product Info

"Right-Off-the-Bat" Recommendation: Worthington's Loma Linda "GRAVY
QUIK" Brown Gravy Mix - 0.9oz envelope - is absolutely delicious!!
(2TBS - 20 - 1g - 4g - 0g) Forget other flavors (chicken, country, etc.)
This is the big winner. It's GREAT mixed with or poured over the meat
subs if you need additional flavoring. I mix it in with my
meatless-loaf. It tastes more like gravy than real gravy and doesn't
have that metallic artificial tast that so many packaged gravies do.
Great for stroganoff style dishes, etc.

Also:
TOFU-MORI-NU LITE: 3oz, 35 Cal, 1g Crbo, 6g Pro., 1g Fat.
