Oh YUM!  Miso.  What a wonderful, flexible food it is.

It is sold as a paste through whole food stores and some health food stores.
It is also available on the net through the Kushi Institute.

Miso is a fermented product and can be fermented from different grains, sea
salt, etc.  My personal favorites are the misos made with barley.
