Spicy Lentil - Potato Stew

I made this for dinner tonight and served it over brown rice.  I found the
recipe in my Mastercook files and am not sure where I got it from.  One of
the subject headings attached to it is "McDougall," but I can't find the
recipe in any of the McDougall books.  Do any of you know the origin of
this recipe?

                        Spicy Lentil - Potato Stew

  Amount  Measure       Ingredient -- Preparation Method
--------  ------------  --------------------------------
     1/2  cup           lentils -- uncooked
   1      cup           chopped carrots
     1/4  cup           chopped celery leaves
   3      each          garlic cloves -- chopped
     1/2  teaspoon      dried basil
   2      cups          tomato juice
   2      medium        potatoes with skins -- 1/2-inch cubes
     1/2  cup           chopped celery
   1      tablespoon    chili powder -- to taste
     1/2  teaspoon      dried oregano
     3/4  cup           water

Throw it all in a large sauce pan, mix it up, and bring it to a boil.
Cover, reduce heat and simmer til veggies are tender (about 45 minutes).
